سر کوهی رسیدم
دوتا خاتونو دیدم
یکیش به من آب داد
یکیش به من نان داد
نانو خودم خوردم
آبو دادم به زمین
زمین به من علف داد
علفو دادم به بزی
بزی به من شیر داد
شیرو دادم به بقال
بقال به من کنجد داد
کنجدو دادم به نانوا
نانوا به من آتیش داد
آتیشو دادم به زرگر
زرگر به من قیچی داد
قیچی رو دادم به خیاط
خیاط به من لباس داد
لباس رو دادم به معلم
معلم به من کتاب داد
کتابو دادم به بابا
بابام دوتا خرما داد
یکی رو خوردم تلخ بود
یکی رو خوردم شیرین بود
رفتم بالا دوغ بود
آمدم پایین ماست بود

I ran and I ran,
I reached a mountaintop,
and I met two ladies there:
one gave me water,
one gave me bread.
The bread I ate myself,
the water I gave to the earth —
the earth gave me grass.
The grass I gave to the goat —
the goat gave me milk.
The milk I gave to the grocer —
the grocer gave me sesame.
The sesame I gave to the baker —
the baker gave me fire.
The fire I gave to the goldsmith —
the goldsmith gave me scissors.
The scissors I gave to the tailor —
the tailor gave me clothes.
The clothes I gave to the teacher —
the teacher gave me a book.
The book I gave to papa —
and papa gave me two dates.
I ate one — it was bitter.
I ate one — it was sweet.
I went up — there was dugh.
I came down — there was yogurt.
And our story was true!
